Heat Wave in Southern Ontario – Collingwood Cooling Stations

Southern Ontario is in the midst of a heat wave. During the hot temperatures, the Town of Collingwood is reminding residents that the Eddie Bush Memorial Arena, at 97 Hurontario Street, is open as a cooling station to offer residents relief. As well the Collingwood Public Library, at 55 Ste. Marie St. offers a place to read in air conditioned comfort and is open from 10am to 9pm Monday to Friday and 10am to 5pm on Saturday. Chilean Miner, Edison Pena to attend 2011 Collingwood Elvis® Festival

Collingwood, ON – The Collingwood Elvis® Festival, the largest of its kind in the world, will host Chilean Miner, Edison Pena at its 17th annual event! While trapped during the mine disaster, Mr Pena often sang his favourite songs made famous by Elvis Presley, and is looking forward to enhancing his skills with the assistance of the more than 120 Elvis Tribute Artists who will be in Collingwood for the competition.

Mr Pena is travelling to Canada for the very first time and Collingwood is pleased that his introduction to our great country is in our community on the shores of beautiful Georgian Bay. The many Elvis Tribute Artists are looking forward to assisting Edison towards his dream of honouring the memory of Elvis by singing his music as a Tribute Artist. Continue reading

Collingwood, ON – The 17th Annual Collingwood Elvis® Festival, the largest of its kind in the world, takes place Thursday, July 21 – Sunday, July 24, 2011. The Collingwood Elvis Festival, themed “Salute to Vegas”, features some of the greatest Elvis tribute artists in the industry showcasing their talents in Vegas-style concerts sure to please any Elvis enthusiast.

The 17th Annual Collingwood Elvis Festival also features Elvis tribute artists competing for the title of Collingwood Elvis Festival Grand Champion in the categories of Professional Early Years, Professional Concert Years, Non-Professional Early Years, Non-Professional Concert Years, as well as Junior and Senior Youth. Other Festival favorites include a street party, family venue tour, vendors, a parade and family focused carnival. There’s something for every age group and for every budget with free events and ticketed shows ranging from $8 - $70.
