As the event enters
its eleventh year, the Collingwood Elvis Festival once again brings
unique entertainment to the stage as part of the weekend line up.
The Saturday Matinee Arena Show will recreate the famous ’68
Comeback Special using the talents of premier Elvis? tribute artists
Ray Guillemette, Gino Monopoli and Ryan Pelton. Isolated from his
original audience after a long sojourn on Hollywood soundstages,
this concert was Elvis’? first television appearance since
the 1960 Sinatra show, and one of the most significant events of
his career. It is considered by many to have been the pivotal performance
that led to Elvis’ eventual return to the stage and his reign
as Las Vegas’ featured performer.
The performance will feature great live performances of the music
from the ’68 Comeback Special television show, including a
comprehensive retrospective of his early hits, a look at his influences
and a hint at the direction his music would ultimately lead.
The show will be recreated by three premier tribute artists, backed
by the Collingwood Elvis Festival’s renowned live band. It
will also feature an exciting multimedia presentation that will examine
the details surrounding this landmark broadcast and its importance
to the career of the world’s greatest entertainer and King
of Rock ‘n’ Roll?.
The ’68 Comeback Special Tribute will take place on Saturday,
July 23 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Reserved tickets for the show range
from just $10 to $40 per person, and group sales discounts are available.
Plans are well underway for the 2005 edition of the Collingwood
Elvis Festival. Dates are July 20 to 24, and for five days it’s “all
about Elvis®” in Collingwood, Ontario. You won’t
want to miss any of the action; from the awesome Street Party to
the great stage shows to the Tribute Artist Competition, and more.
Tickets are now on sale for all events.
