Collingwood Elvis Festival Wins Multiple Awards

Collingwood, ONThe Collingwood Elvis Festival Municipal Services Board is pleased to announce that the 2005 Collingwood Elvis Festival won multiple achievement awards at the Festivals & Events Ontario conference held recently in Niagara Falls, Ontario.

The honours included two first place wins in the print division; “Best Official Program” and “Best Newspaper Insert”. For the fifth consecutive year, the Collingwood Elvis Festival also garnered recognition with inclusion among the “Top 50 Ontario Festivals”. These are chosen from more than 3,000 festivals and events in the province.

The Collingwood Elvis Festival Graphics and Design team includes Jennifer Gerrior and Anita Hunter from TriNamic Printing Inc., freelance graphic designer Winston Rogers, Collingwood Elvis Festival Sponsorship Sales Manager, Lisa Franklin, and Festival media committee members Paul Richards, Marion Lewis, Susan Nicholson and Karen Cubitt.

The Ontario Tourism and Marketing Partnership Corporation and Festival & Events Ontario collaborate on the yearly trade show and conference where the honours are awarded. The rules allow participating festivals to enter a maximum of five categories. Not only did the Elvis festival win in two categories, but was among the top three (3) nominees for other categories including “Best Community Involvement”, “Best Overall Promotional Campaign” and “Best Internet Site”.

The awards were accepted at the Conference by Festival Manager Rosemarie O’Brien, Downtown BIA General Manager Susan Nicholson and festival volunteers, Bill Nicholson and Ralph O’Brien.

“Our design and communications strategies in 2005 were coordinated by the Collingwood Media Committee which is to be congratulated for its dynamic and successful campaign. The effective and exciting materials communicated the message of a fun weekend in July for all ages” said manager Rosemarie O’Brien.

“We could not do it without our volunteers who contribute to the Festival and the Town of Collingwood by giving a lot of valuable time, expertise, and intelligence – such as Festival Board Vice Chair, Michael Christie, and internet developer and radio producer Paul Richards” added Festival Municipal Services Board Chair, Peter Dunbar.

The 12th Annual Collingwood Elvis Festival takes place July 26-30, 2006. Tickets are on sale now by calling 1-866-444-1162. Visit www.collingwoodelvisfestival.com for more information.
