Elvis Festival Municipal Services Board is pleased to announce that
the 2005 Collingwood Elvis Festival won multiple achievement awards
at the Festivals & Events Ontario conference held recently in Niagara
Falls, Ontario.
The honours included two first place wins in the print division; “Best
Official Program” and “Best Newspaper Insert”.
For the fifth consecutive year, the Collingwood Elvis Festival also
garnered recognition with inclusion among the “Top 50 Ontario
Festivals”. These are chosen from more than 3,000 festivals
and events in the province.
The Collingwood Elvis Festival Graphics and Design team includes
Jennifer Gerrior and Anita Hunter from TriNamic Printing Inc., freelance
graphic designer Winston Rogers, Collingwood Elvis Festival Sponsorship
Sales Manager, Lisa Franklin, and Festival media committee members
Paul Richards, Marion Lewis, Susan Nicholson and Karen Cubitt.

Ontario collaborate on the yearly trade show and conference where
the honours are awarded. The rules allow participating festivals
to enter a maximum of five categories. Not only did the Elvis festival
win in two categories, but was among the top three (3) nominees for
other categories including “Best Community Involvement”, “Best
Overall Promotional Campaign” and “Best Internet Site”.
The awards were accepted at the Conference by Festival Manager Rosemarie
O’Brien, Downtown BIA General Manager Susan Nicholson and festival
volunteers, Bill Nicholson and Ralph O’Brien.
“Our design and communications strategies in 2005 were coordinated
by the Collingwood Media Committee which is to be congratulated for
its dynamic and successful campaign. The effective and exciting materials
communicated the message of a fun weekend in July for all ages” said
manager Rosemarie O’Brien.
“We could not do it without our volunteers who contribute
to the Festival and the Town of Collingwood by giving a lot of valuable
time, expertise, and intelligence – such as Festival Board
Vice Chair, Michael Christie, and internet developer and radio producer
Paul Richards” added Festival Municipal Services Board Chair,
Peter Dunbar.
