COLLINGWOOD ELVIS FESTIVAL ULTIMATE BEGINNINGS
Greatness from small beginnings can best describe his illustrious career.
Just a small town boy with a passion for music, Elvis would drive a delivery truck during the day and play small local shows in the evening. During his early career, Elvis produced some of his most popular singles such as Heartbreak Hotel, Don’t be Cruel, Hound Dog, and of course, Blue Suede Shoes. These songs paved the way for what is now the Rock & Roll music genre. His early career truly was an Ultimate Beginning and it would forge his legacy into what it is today!
Just as Elvis experienced a humble start to his career, so too did some of the greatest Elvis Tribute Artists on the planet.
David Lee, an internationally recognized Elvis cover artist sang his first song at a co-workers going away party. From there, he became “an Elvis Sponge”. His love for performing Elvis songs had blossomed into what is now an amazing career. He truly evolved into a success from a small beginning just as Elvis had done. David made his first appearance to the Collingwood Elvis Fest in 2001, and has since come back 16 times. After all, many artists claim that “you’re nothing until you’ve won Collingwood.”
Ultimate Beginnings Show, Friday July 28
David Lee will be back again this year to perform at the Collingwood Elvis Festival. He will be joined by other Ultimate Tribute Artists Dean Z, Cody Ray Slaughter, and returning Grand Champion Robin Kelly in the Ultimate Beginnings Show on Friday July 28, from 8:00 p.m to 11:30 p.m at the Eddie Bush Memorial Arena. Together, they will celebrate Elvis’ Ultimate Beginnings with some of his original hits. You won’t find any sequins or jumpsuits here; these Tribute Artists perform as early Elvis with the slicked back hair and hip slides and rubber legs you remember from Elvis’ early days!
