Collingwood Elvis Festival Volunteer named Volunteer of the Year by Festivals & Events Ontario
Collingwood, ON
Collingwood Elvis Festival representatives returned home from the annual Festivals & Events Ontario conference in Niagara Falls this past weekend with several honours to their credit. Dedicated Elvis Festival supporter, Margaret Forsythe, was recognized as the Volunteer of the Year by the province’s most notable festival and event association at the Hall of Fame Gala held in the Sheraton on the Falls Conference Centre, Friday, March 2nd.
Selected from a number of submissions received from event organizers across the province, Ms. Forsythe was recognized for her community spirit, her enthusiasm, and her tireless support of Collingwood’s premiere event.
“Margaret is enthusiastic, determined, dedicated, and high-spirited, with a sympathetic ear, a generous heart and a kind soul. Margaret is a true joy to work with!” boasts Collingwood Elvis Festival General Manager, Rosemarie O’Brien.
At the Annual General Meeting held on Saturday, March 3rd, Rosemarie O’Brien was also honoured by her peers as she was re-elected for a second two-year term to the FEO Board of Directors.
Accepting the portfolio position as Awards Chairperson, Rosemarie was also appointed FEO’s Vice President for 2012 after which time she will step into the role of President in 2013.
The Collingwood Elvis Festival was also named one of the Top 100 Festivals and Events in Ontario for the seventh consecutive year.

Viva Elvis – Las Vegas – Collingwood Elvis Festival winner
We are back from Las Vegas and had a marvelous time. The hotel was beyond our expectations and the Viva Elvis performance was superb. It was very fast paced and the time went so quickly. The music and dance together with the acrobatics was great. My husband, Keith, is not a photographer so there are very few pictures of me to send you, so what you see is his best attempt. I have sent a couple of the Aria hotel at night and in the daytime. There is also one of the exterior of the theatre but the lights are so very low that you can’t really capture it on film. Our seats were excellent, on the first tier and almost dead center. I would highly recommend the hotel as it’s location is right between the Bellagio and the Monte Carlo so is pretty close to the best part of the strip. The buffet at the hotel was beyond belief and we understand the locals come in to the hotel just for the buffet, it is so good. The weather was about 60-65F. during the day and of course it is cooler at night and dipped to around 45F.
Keith and I can’t thank you, the Festival and Carlson Wagonlit Collingwood enough for all you did to make our stay so enjoyable. Good luck with the festival next summer…..
